Temporary Canvassers

posted 6 Aug 2018, 19:40 by Ian Holmes-Lewis
We have been asked by Linda Bissett, Head of Democratic Services, Fife Council, to circulate the undernoted:

The issue of the Household Enquiry Forms (HEFs) to all households in Fife is the first stage in the annual Electoral Register Canvass to identify electors throughout Fife. The HEF also asks householders to identify 14 and 15 year olds who would be eligible to vote in Scottish Parliament and Council elections after turning 16.

As part of the canvass the ERO has to send a canvasser to knock on the doors of those who have not responded to the HEFs. This is normally done in Fife after the initial HEF and first reminder have been sent.

It is not always easy to recruit canvassers with local knowledge particularly in rural areas of Fife. Therefore this year she is attempting to increase the number of canvassers available to carry out the door to door canvass and posts have been advertised on the My Jobs Scotland website from the following link:

The canvassers will each be given a set workload and will have from the end of September until middle of November to complete that workload, although it is hoped that most of the work will be completed before the clocks change at the end of October. Training and equipment will be provided.

If you are aware of anyone within your area who might be interested in doing some canvassing locally on behalf of the ERO I would be grateful if you could direct them to make an application from the advert above. The closing date for applications is 22 July.

Anyone wishing more information on the posts should contact Trisha King on 03451 55 55 55 ext 442179.”
