Saline Environmental Group

‘Enhancing, protecting and facilitating access to the natural environment for all members of the Community’

The Environmental Group is one of Saline's longest established community-based organisations and over the years has been involved in maintaining and improving the Glen entrance and the pathway through it.

The new committee have decided to focus on small projects designed to enhance the village and to encourage local people to become involved. Areas beside Upper Kinneddar and the bus turning circle have been planted with wildflowers, benches have been given some much needed tlc and the noticeboards at either end of the village have been spruced up.

On 21st June, members of both SEG and the Heritage Society encouraged local children to decorate bird and bat boxes which will shortly be put up in Saline Glen. Why not take a walk and see if you can spot them?

Future activities include taking stewardship of the community orchard and creating a volunteer working party to help maintain the old graveyard throughout the summer months. This would involve some weeding and keeping bushes tidy. If you would like to help with either of these projects please contact Linda Moyes (see below) or come along to the old graveyard at 7pm on Tuesday 5th August.
There is a meeting in the old graveyard on Tuesday 5th August:

7 - 8pm for anyone interested in helping SEG and the Heritage Society to maintain it during the summer months. All this would involve is clearing any weeds and undergrowth, picking up stray litter and a general tidy up before winter, probably 3 or 4 times during the summer months. Rewards will be a tidy graveyard and a seat on one of the lovely benches. To meet at the graveyard gates for 7pm.
